Conservation Foundation was Cape Cod’s first private land trust. More
than 40 years later, the foundation is still going strong and owns more
than 520 acres,
with many trails for public use. |

| Chatham wasn’t part of the 22-mile
Cape Cod Rail Trail when it was
built two decades ago, but strong interest led to a four-mile extension
that opened in 2005. The paved spur starts at the Harwich town line and
runs along Rte. 28 and a handful of scenic ponds, ending at Crowell
Road. Riders can turn around there and head back to Harwich or take a
short ride to downtown Chatham or Chatham Light. |
