Eastham Recreation

Beaches
The Cape Cod National Seashore operates Eastham’s ocean beaches: Coast Guard Beach on Doane Road and Nauset Light Beach on Nauset Light Beach Road. Both beaches have a $15 daily parking fee, with a $45 season pass available for all Cape Cod National Seashore beaches. An important note about Coast Guard Beach is the parking lot is closed during the summer due to emergency evacuation issues. Shuttle service is provided from the Lil Creek parking area on Doane Road, across from the Doane Rock area.

The town’s Recreation and Beach Department manages all Eastham beaches on the bay side and at freshwater ponds. Daily beach parking is $15. Visitors spending a week or more may purchase beach stickers from the Recreation and Beach Department at 555 Old Orchard Road or fill out paperwork in advance and send it to Eastham Town Hall.

First Encounter Beach
This beach holds both history and beauty. An onsite plaque recognizes it as the area where the Nauset tribe of the Wampanoag Indians first encountered Capt. Miles Standish and the other Pilgrims on Dec. 6, 1620. The meeting came during the five weeks the Pilgrims spent exploring the outer Cape while the Mayflower was docked in Provincetown. They would later return to the ship and head for Plymouth.
