Hingham
|

Hingham is a gem from any angle, with dreamy views
of Boston’s skyline, the harbor islands and
neighboring Hull.
The
first Europeans arrived in 1633 and called the area
Bare Cove like the Massachusetts Indians they met
here. The Rev. Peter Hobart and his followers came a
couple years later, incorporating the town as Hingham.
Hobart immediately formed what’s now the
Old Ship Church, the oldest continually operating
wooden church in America. The church, the town’s
historical buildings owned by Abraham Lincoln’s descendants and
Old Derby Academy are among the South Shore’s most
notable landmarks. The town’s waterfront parks – set
on former World War II naval operations – are ideal
for biking, exploring and other activities.
